WHAT IS CBT?
CBT can help you to change how you think ("Cognitive") and what you do ("Behaviour)". These changes can help you to feel better. Unlike some of the other talking treatments, it focuses on the "here and now" problems and difficulties. Instead of focusing on the causes of your distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to improve your state of mind now. CBT can be useful for dealing with issues such as (but not limited to): Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Drug or Alcohol Problems, Eating Disorders, Insomnia, Menopause, Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Post-natal depression, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Stress, Social Anxiety, Sexual and Relationship Problems.
CBT sessions may consist of a number of activities, including: Coping skills, Assessments,Relaxation, Challenging certain thoughts, Thought stopping, Homework projects and Training in communication. I work with adults only (18+ years) to address a wide variety of problems using the techniques of CBT.
Get in touch
Finding the right therapist is paramount to achieving a positive outcome. I suggest an initial consultation that allows the client to discuss briefly what brought them to counselling, what they feel they need from a therapist and what they would like to achieve from the sessions. It also allows both the client and myself to establish whether we can work together to achieve the desired outcomes. My standard rate for a 50 minute online session is £80.
I work from my home in West Yorkshire and since the pandemic have been providing therapy on an online basis only. This allows me to provide a service to a greater number of people and is less disruptive to my clients. Many prefer it because it is less disruptive to their daily lives, there is no chance of spreading covid, flu eyc and it also allows them to continue the sessions during their holidays if they wish to do so.
